Penny has committed her life to the education of herself and others both in the school system and the church. She has an Elementary Education degree, Masters degree in Reading, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership (Administration), and an ABD PhD in Reading. She’s been in the field of education professionally for the past 31 years. Penny loves to read, learn, spend time with family and friends, bike, kayak, and fish.
During Penny’s educational career, she has served as an elementary teacher, Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach, Literacy Coordinator, and Elementary Principal. In the church, she taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Awana groups. Penny has a passion for student learning, and she believes that education frees us from the chains of bondage. With an education, we are able to choose to do things we love while supporting our families and contributing to society. Ensuring students have an equitable education based on a sequential curriculum ensuring high levels of learning that encourages student interactions, deep thinking, and problem-solving will change children’s lives.
